What to know before you choose
From Reading Words to Building Whole Sentences
Once children begin recognising and reading words, the next challenge is understanding how those words fit together.
The Junior Learning Sentence Toolbox turns sentence building into a hands-on activity. Children choose colourful word tri-blocks, arrange them in different combinations and use the sentence cards to explore how words work together.
Instead of grammar feeling abstract, children can physically move words around, experiment with word order and begin seeing how meaningful sentences are created.

WHY SENTENCE BUILDING MATTERS
Reading a Word Is Only Part of Learning to Read
Children also need to understand how words connect to communicate an idea. Sentence building helps them move beyond recognising individual words and begin understanding who is doing what, what makes sense and where words belong in a sentence.
The Sentence Toolbox makes that process visual and hands-on by allowing children to physically arrange and rearrange words rather than only completing exercises on paper.
SIMPLE TO USE AT HOME OR SCHOOL
How Does the Sentence Toolbox Work?
Children can see the sentence, choose the words and physically put the sentence together.
STEP 1
Choose a Sentence Card
Start with one of the sentence-building cards. The examples provide a clear starting point while children learn how different types of words fit together.
STEP 2
Choose the Words
Select from the word tri-blocks covering different parts of speech. The colourful pieces help make different word types easier to distinguish as children build their sentence.
STEP 3
Build It. Read It. Change It.
Arrange the words into a sentence and read it together. Then swap one of the blocks and see how changing a noun, verb or other word changes the meaning of the sentence.
▶ WATCH IT IN ACTION
