What Are Decodable Readers?

Decodable readers are books written using controlled text so children can practise the phonics knowledge they have already learned.

Rather than depending heavily on pictures or guessing unfamiliar words, beginning readers can use their knowledge of letter sounds, blending and phonics patterns to work through the text.
